The Steam Awards winners have been announced

There are already several ceremonies that choose the best games in certain categories throughout the year. Of course, Valve wouldn´t be any less, and it organizes The Steam Awards. It's a very particular event with some peculiarities that make it different from others. Obviously, only games available on Steam are allowed to be chosen as a nominee, but even though all steam users can choose the nominees for each category, it's Valve who chooses the five finalists. Then, users get to vote to choose the winner among these. 

Leaving aside those differences, The Steam Awards is a good way of finding out which games have been more popular on the platform, and the winners of the 2020 edition have been recently announced. There are quite a few categories and some of the winners may surprise you. This is the case of the winner of the Game of the Year award, Red Dead Redemption 2, which is a game that was launched in December 2019 on Steam. But even if you do not agree with some of the winners, the list reflects that 2020 has been quite a strange year, with many unexpected video games that have turned out to be a great success.
