The Outlast Trials has been teased at Gamescom

Red Barrels' genre-defining horror game series Outlast now has a third entry with The Outlast Trials. Previously announced in 2019, Red Barrels finally dropped a gory gameplay teaser during Gamescom's Opening Night Live. Be warned: the video features bloody and graphic violence.

In Outlast and Outlast 2, you had to survive in extreme circumstances just by yourself, and you couldn't use weapons or fight except during specific scripts. You had to run from your enemies, hide, sneak, and try to find your way through an intricate web of corridors and rooms, looking for items that would help you to escape alive from the place where you were trapped in. Any undesired encounter while progressing through the game proved to be lethal in the worst possible way you could think of.

The Outlast Trials will be a prequel to the first game's events with cooperative multiplayer for up to four people. Therefore, the dynamics of survival will take a new dimension in this game. The Outlast Trials is set during the Cold War era. It focuses on the twisted human experiments of the Murkoff Corporation, which captured civilians and turned them into human guinea pigs to research advanced forms of brainwashing and mind control. According to the game description:

"Imprisoned in a secret Murkoff facility, players will be thrust into a series of physical and mental ordeals, tormented by iconic characters, and challenged alone or in teams to survive with their sanity intact."

There is no news yet as to what platforms the game will run on. The Outlast Trials is set for release sometime in 2022. Meanwhile, if you are a fan of survival horror, Outlast and Outlast 2 offer you a thrilling experience that will require a lot of time to forget, and you can find both of them at the best price on our comparator.
