Were you invited to The Duskbloods network test?
FromSoftware's next experiment in multiplayer isn't ready to let players loose just yet, but selected testers can already get their hands on the necessary software to run the test already. The Network Test client is now available to download for players who were chosen to participate in the closed beta on Nintendo Switch 2. Those who requested to participate in the test when it was announced and have been lucky enough to make the cut were notified earlier this month, and FromSoftware has now distributed the download codes required to install the test. Participants can revisit the Account page on the official The Duskbloods Network Test website, where their Nintendo Switch 2 code should be waiting. The code can then be used to download the Network Test through the Nintendo Store or Nintendo eShop, depending on the player's region.
This means testers can get everything installed ahead of time rather than wasting precious minutes downloading the game when the servers finally open. And considering that each testing window lasts only four hours, having the client ready to go is probably a very good idea. FromSoftware's test is designed around specific server sessions rather than providing continuous access throughout the weekend.
When can you play The Duskbloods?
The Network Test begins on August 21 and runs through August 24, with five separate four-hour sessions. The official schedule includes the following time windows:
- August 21: 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM CEST
- August 22: 4:00 AM – 8:00 AM CEST
- August 22: 8:00 PM – 12:00 AM CEST
- August 23: 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM CEST
- August 24: 4:00 AM – 8:00 AM CEST
The exact regional schedule can vary, so participants should check the schedule associated with their region before planning their weekend around FromSoftware's latest blood-soaked multiplayer experiment.
A Technical Test, Not a Free Demo
It is worth remembering that this Network Test isn't a conventional beta or demo. FromSoftware is using an unfinished version of the game to stress-test its online infrastructure, multiplayer functionality and game balance. The studio specifically warns that bugs and other technical problems can occur during testing.
The Duskbloods is built around multiplayer battles involving up to eight players, with the Bloodsworn fighting both alongside and against other players while using unique weapons and blood-based abilities. That combination of PvP and PvE is precisely what makes the Network Test so important: FromSoftware needs to see how its servers handle multiple players and different network environments simultaneously.
And yes, this is very much a Nintendo Switch 2 affair. Both the game and Network Test are exclusive to Nintendo's new console, while an active Nintendo Switch Online membership is also required to participate.
For those who received the golden ticket, then, there is nothing left to do but download the client, clear some space on the Switch 2 and prepare for a weekend of gothic multiplayer mayhem. The servers are almost ready to open, and The Duskbloods is finally about to show whether FromSoftware can turn its famously punishing combat into a bloodbath for eight players.
