Release date

Techland has announced that Dying Light: The Beast will now be released one day earlier than planned, hitting store shelves on September 18, 2025. The move comes as a thank-you to fans after the game surpassed one million pre-orders, an impressive milestone that underscores the franchise’s enduring popularity.

Pre-order now for a reward

Originally intended as downloadable content for Dying Light 2: Stay Human, Dying Light: The Beast evolved into a full standalone title. The developers used the extra time from its initial delay to polish gameplay, fine-tune the user interface, improve animations and physics, and enhance the overall story experience. Techland also promised an exclusive in-game reward for pre-order customers, which has been revealed recently: an impressive APEX Car Skin with a brutal design that glows in the dark.

While Dying Light: The Beast retains the parkour-driven gameplay that defines the series, it introduces notable differences from the original games. Fans will return to Kyle Crane, the series’ iconic protagonist, who has undergone 13 years of experimentation at the hands of the villain known as "The Baron." Unlike the urban environments of previous titles, Dying Light: The Beast is set in the forested region of Castor Woods, providing a fresh backdrop for exploration and survival.

Gameplay mechanics remain familiar, including free-running parkour, open-world exploration, and dynamic combat, but the new title emphasizes Crane's mutated abilities, adding a supernatural element that was absent from the earlier games. Though shorter in overall length than the main entries and requiring approximately 20 hours for the main story, the game offers additional side content for players who wish to fully immerse themselves in the world. Another notable feature is the game’s accessibility for existing fans: players who own the Dying Light 2: Stay Human Ultimate Edition will receive Dying Light: The Beast at no additional cost. This makes the title both a standalone experience and a bridge for long-time players to reconnect with familiar characters while enjoying new gameplay twists.

By advancing the release date, Techland demonstrates both confidence in the game's readiness and gratitude toward its community. Dying Light: The Beast promises a darker, more intense survival horror experience while staying true to the parkour, exploration, and tension that made the franchise a hit. You are still in time to pre-order Dying Light: The Beast at the best price with our comparator and get the bonus reward.

In my opinion, it's a smart move to keep the marketing momentum going. It also shows confidence in the product, although getting ahead of schedule can create pressure to get the game polished from day one. It also shows Techland's confidence and gratitude to the fans. It's positive that it's coming early, but also a challenge: the game will need to be perfectly optimized from day one to not disappoint. It can be a great success if it delivers what it promised. Something that, for me, it has done perfectly.

For me, it's worth every euro spent. More if you see things in this news that I had no idea about. Just for the policy that has led Techland with this game, for his generosity to the players of the previous installment, this game deserves the Goty. This is one of those games that you have to play them calmly. It is very enjoyable just like Dying Light. Personally I miss being able to repair weapons without having to go to the inventory every time it breaks and being able to repair the weapon at the time. Otherwise I'm happy, it's very optimized, it looks amazing and I'm loving it, the story I've been playing for quite a while because I'm exploring the map and doing side quests.

Quite a risky move to release a big title in a month packed with big releases, but it's really good, so it's working out great so far. Tons of positive feedback and reviews. Glad to see Techland back on their tracks.

It's rare to see a video game company bringing forward the release of their game and giving it away for free to those who had the previous one. I wish other companies would follow suit.

I don't know the reason why they have brought the game forward but, it may be because they had a date in mind and on that date the king (GTA VI) was going to be released. I think that all companies are afraid of that date and more knowing that the one that is now may not be the final date. So they must have thought that, being the game pretty good in all aspects, they decided to release it as soon as possible to avoid that date and if they have something to fix, release patches but, as I said, the game is very good. It's just a theory of bringing the date forward. We're seeing a lot of very good games coming out these last few months that could have been diluted if GTA had come out in September, as they had announced.

Unfortunately, I didn't manage to get the Ultimate Edition upgrade for DL2 in time, as this game would have been free with it. However, I'm playing it eventually. Castor Woods, the new map, looks really good and the nights should be spooky, with a mix of forest, factory and urban areas. The combat looks better than ever and the new bosses look really fun to fight, with their different attacks and mechanics.

As proudly announced on the game's official social media channels, Dying Light: The Beast has gotten off to a flying start on Steam, racking up over 8,000 reviews in just one day, 90% of which are positive. Techland is very happy with this result, and has chosen to thank all players by offering them a free DLC, the Spectral Bat.

The announcement of an early release shows that Techland has confidence in its game and its community. Rewarding past players with free access (if you have the Ultimate Edition of Dying Light 2) and rewards for the millions of pre-orders is appreciable. The return of Kyle Crane after 13 years, in a wilder, more brutal world, is exactly what was needed to relaunch the franchise. I loved Dying Light's edgy gameplay, and here, with the new map, more forest atmosphere and new abilities, it offers a very different experience without betraying the game's DNA. It's not necessarily a problem in itself that the game is shorter. It's better to have a shorter but intense game than one that's too long and empty.

Huge respect to Techland — moving up the release shows real confidence. Dying Light: The Beast looks darker, faster, and bringing back Crane has me hyped. Just hope performance matches the hype!

If you know the Dying Light saga, in a way you will feel at home, because all its hallmarks are still present here, the control is very similar (yes, the jump is still associated with L1/LB on the controller), but with certain improvements in all sections. The hard core of the game is still that of an action adventure and survival in an open world populated by zombies.
