Developed by Focuspoint Studios (formerly Team6 Game Studios) and published by Current Games, Taxi Chaos 2 surprised us with a "shadow drop" right before Christmas on various platforms: Steam, Xbox Series X/S & Nintendo Switch, and it is scheduled to release on PS5 in January of 2026. The game shifts the series from being just a simple Crazy Taxi clone into a sci-fi "man vs. machine" battle.
Taxi Chaos 2 is a futuristic arcade racing sequel that is launched right before Christmas. The biggest change from the first game comes from the introduction of TaxiBots—autonomous AI taxis controlled by a mainframe called H.A.N.K. that have outlawed human drivers.
Unlike the first game, due to the introduction of "TaxiBots," the TaxiBots will actively try to hunt you down. They will ram your car, block your routes, and try to steal your passengers. In order to fight back, you can unlock abilities such as Sonic Blast & Tesla Shock (to disable or push back aggressive AI) or Turbo Boost & Aqua Wheels (for shortcuts and navigating environmental hazards) and lastly, Hacking Key (to bypass city security or restricted zones).
The game will be divided into 2 distinct modes: Story Mode and Arcade Mode. In story mode, you will be playing as Vinny, an older, retired cabbie from the first game who is dragged back into service. The story mode features a chapter-based campaign with 12-minute "shifts" where the city conditions change from morning to dusk as you progress. In Arcade mode, you will experience a classic high score chaser game, where you deliver passengers under a time limit while dealing with the sabotaging of the TaxiBots.
Taxi Chaos 2 is set in San Valeda, a city with shifting traffic patterns, roadblocks, and "TaxiBot-only" zones. The game also features a vertical component, and players are encouraged to jump across rooftops and smash through obstacles to find shortcuts, moving beyond just driving on the normal streets. Finally, the game allows you to choose 10 different taxis across three classes: Heavy (for ramming), Sport (for speed), and Drift (for handling).
Overall, if you are a fan of futuristic arcade racing games in general, or a big fan of the Taxi Chaos franchise, or just a Crazy Taxi fan who's just looking for something different, then Taxi Chaos 2 is for you.
