System Shock 3 has been announced with a teaser

It’s been quite a long time since the last System Shock title appeared in the world of videogames. The first of the series came out for PC in 1994. It was an epic time for the team since it was a first-person shooter game with RPG elements and a sci-fi setting that became really popular. System Shock 2 came in 1999 and after a long wait, developer Warren Spector has announced in the Unity’s Game Developers Conference the coming of the third title of the series, the System Shock 3.

According to Spector, working on System Shock has been one of the most fulfilling things he has done in his career. He also added that he is very much excited to share what he and SHODAN have been up to since the last game was released. There is no release date for the game yet, nor there is news on the platforms where the game will be available. As for the teaser trailer, many would say that there’s a hint of nostalgia in it, most especially when the voice of the original SHODAN actor is heard. This teaser is part of Unity’s reveal of their new features in last night’s GDC held at San Francisco. The teaser is reminiscent of System Shock 2 and it’s meticulously crafted so that players can’t assume and interpret much about what the final game will be. This teaser of System Shock 3 is creepy and it reveals just enough of the game to leave anyone that has played any of the previous titles wanting for more. Its setting and atmosphere really support the premise of the game. It’s dark, disturbing, problematic, and intense. Watch the trailer below and share your thoughts.
