Snowy Escape is the next expansion for The Sims 4

The Sims team told us about it last week and it's now done: the trailer for the next expansion pack for the Sims 4 was unveiled yesterday, and it bears the sweet name of Snowy Escape.

The first official image as well as the name of the pack were unveiled last Monday via the Sims Twitter account, and they generated a lot of expectations among the players. The theme of this extension is quite explicit, Snowy Escape will allow us to enjoy winter sports and more. Like all expansion packs, Snowy Escape will feature a new world, Mount Komorebi, of Japanese inspiration in this case.

This pack will have two facets. The first one focuses on winter sports, and it will allow you to take part in different activities, three of which will be new skills: skiing, snowboarding, and climbing. It will also be possible to go tobogganing, and it will also be a family activity since toddlers will be able to toboggan, accompanied of course. We can see in the trailer that our sims will obviously be able to participate in real expeditions to the mountains and even camp in the snow. But Snowy Escape is not just a pack of winter sports, and it will offer certain activities related to Japanese culture, taking inspiration from it in terms of style and using both traditional and modern architecture. Our sims can, therefore, enjoy the onsen which is a natural hot spring, taste a Japanese fondue around a kotatsu table or even meditate.

Many players have been wondering if it would be necessary to own Seasons to be able to enjoy Snowy Getaway, and EA has made clear that it won't. What is not very clear, however, is how the “vacation” aspect of the world will work. It will be different from Jungle Adventure because we will obviously be able to live there and not just go there for a few days. This suggests a new type of area on which we can build vacation homes, but all of this still needs confirmation. More info should be revealed very soon as Snowy Escape will be released on November 13th.
