Satisfactory: Core Values Expands Its Industrial Empire Underground

After years of building, automating, and expanding factories across the surface of MASSAGE-2(A-B)b, Satisfactory is finally preparing to enter a new chapter. At The Big Break Showcase on September 29, 2026, Coffee Stain Studios announced Satisfactory: Core Values Expansion, the game's first paid DLC and what the studio describes as a major expansion. Details are still limited, but its direction is already clear: rather than simply expanding further across the surface, Pioneers will head deep into the planet's crust to build an entirely new industrial network.

A natural expansion for a remarkable journey that is far from over

Core Values takes the familiar Construct, Automate, Explore & Exploit loop into an underground setting. Based on what has been revealed so far, the DLC will introduce new resources, flora and fauna, production lines, and buildings, while asking players to develop an underground factory network as they venture deeper into MASSAGE-2(A-B)b. Exploration will remain an important part of the experience as well, with players gradually uncovering more about the planet and its world as they descend.

For now, that is only the first layer of information. The announcement trailer mainly offers a glimpse at the expansion's setting, while questions surrounding the structure of the underground areas, how the DLC connects to the existing map, save compatibility, progression, pricing, and its release date have yet to be answered. These have also become some of the most common questions within the community following the announcement, showing that Core Values is currently only opening the door to what Coffee Stain plans to reveal next.

Even so, taking factory construction underground already creates an interesting new direction without having to reinvent the game's core foundation. Satisfactory has always revolved around finding resources, solving logistics problems, and gradually turning each area into a larger and more efficient production system. A more enclosed, multi-layered environment built around new resources and production lines could encourage players to rethink how they lay out their factories. Coffee Stain has not explained exactly how this will work yet, but the change in environment alone creates plenty of possibilities for the familiar formula.

There is also good reason for Satisfactory to receive its first major expansion at this point in its life. The game entered Early Access in March 2019 and spent more than five years there before officially reaching version 1.0 on September 10, 2024. During that period, Coffee Stain sold more than six million copies before the game even left Early Access, showing that Satisfactory had already built a substantial community long before its full release.

Version 1.0 then pushed the game even further, with concurrent players on Steam peaking at 186,158 in September 2024. Two years later, Satisfactory still holds an Overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam, with around 97% of its English-language reviews being positive. Coffee Stain has not stopped supporting the game either. Update 1.2 arrived in June 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, while the studio has continued to make it clear that more content for Satisfactory is still in development.

That is why Core Values does not feel like a DLC designed to bring an old game back into the spotlight. Instead, it feels like the natural next step for a title that has spent years building its community, refining its systems, and proving that its factory-building loop can continue to keep players invested. After more than seven years of growth and development, Satisfactory has built a strong enough foundation to deserve a major expansion of this scale, even if Coffee Stain still has plenty left to reveal.
