Ubisoft Officially Reveals Rainbow Six Tactics

Rainbow Six Tactics Officially Revealed by Ubisoft

The Rainbow Six franchise has unexpectedly opened a new chapter as Ubisoft officially revealed Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Tactics. Moving away from the familiar gunfights players have come to know, the new title appears to be taking the franchise in a completely different direction. While Ubisoft has only revealed the first details so far, Rainbow Six Tactics has already drawn attention with this fresh approach. And if what has been shown is any indication of the direction Ubisoft is building toward, this could become one of the most distinctive Rainbow Six entries yet.

Rainbow Six Tactics Takes Rainbow Six to a Completely New Battlefield

In Rainbow Six Tactics, players will take on the role of commanding Rainbow, building a squad from familiar Operators and sending them into missions across locations around the world. Each mission requires players to scout the area, choose their approach, and coordinate the abilities of each team member before engaging the enemy.

Unlike Rainbow Six Siege, combat now takes place in turns, with positioning, line of sight, cover, and environmental destruction playing an important role. Players can use drones to gather information inside buildings, locate enemies, and prepare their approach before launching an assault.

One of the most notable features is the Breach system, which allows players to plan actions for multiple Operators before carrying out a coordinated assault. This system combines each team member’s abilities with environmental destruction, helping preserve some of Rainbow Six’s defining DNA within a turn-based tactical formula.

The game currently features 15 Operators, along with character progression and squad management systems. Outside of missions, players will also be able to manage Rainbow from the Headquarters and prepare their forces for upcoming operations. Ubisoft has also confirmed that Rainbow Six Tactics is focused on a single-player experience.

Rainbow Six Tactics is currently scheduled to launch in 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Ubisoft has only introduced the game’s core features so far, meaning many details about the campaign, Operators, and gameplay systems are still being kept under wraps. With this first reveal, the game is already showing a very different side of the franchise, and future announcements will give players a clearer picture of the new direction Ubisoft has planned for Rainbow Six.

Supongo que querrán llamar la atención a jugadores a los que les guste este tipo de juegos pero yo me quedo con el juego clásico.
I suppose they want to attract players who like this type of game, but I'll stick with the classic game.

Rainbow Six siempre se definió por su tensión en tiempo real, así que convertirlo en algo más parecido a XCOM podría alejar bastante a los fans de Siege.
Rainbow Six has always been defined by its real-time tension, so turning it into something more like XCOM could alienate many Siege fans.

I'm pretty keen on Rainbow Six Tactics, however, I'm interested in a game priced around €40 maximum. With only 15 operators announced for the base game, it gives the impression that future DLCs are already planned to add more.

Why not? I quite like the Tom Clancy's universe and Rainbow Six. The gameplay does remind me a lot of the new Star Wars: Zero Company that came out yesterday. It's almost as if studios have suddenly decided to bring turn-based tactical games back into the spotlight.

In Rainbow Six Tactics, players will step into the shoes of Paul "Six" Bishop—the protagonist of Rainbow Six Vegas—returning to command Operators remotely in an XCOM-style format. The game will feature 15 characters from Rainbow Six Siege, including Sledge and Ash, alongside a total of 47 hand-crafted maps and approximately 90 minutes of narrative sequences. The story is set during the collapse of Rainbow, taking place between Year 10 and Year 11 of Rainbow Six Siege. Key features include a breach planning system that allows players to organize and execute synchronized assaults with their Operators, harking back to one of the most beloved mechanics from the original 1998 Rainbow Six game.
