Mortal Shell II Launches Advanced Access Ahead of Release

Mortal Shell II Opens Advanced Access Ahead of Official Release

After months of drawing attention through gameplay showcases, Open Beta sessions, and positive feedback from the community, Mortal Shell II has finally entered its release week. Notably, before the full release reaches all players on August 20, Cold Symmetry and Playstack have opened Advanced Access from August 17. This marks an important step toward launch, while also highlighting the growing interest in the sequel, with its Open Beta attracting more than one million players across Steam, PS5, and Xbox.

Mortal Shell II Opens Early for Devout Edition Buyers

From the very first Beta sessions, Mortal Shell II has attracted considerable attention from fans of the soulslike genre. The number of participants quickly surpassed one million, while player feedback has focused largely on the combat system, the interconnected world, and how the game expands upon the formula established by the first installment. The development team has also said that this strong response has been a major source of motivation as the game approaches its full release.

And now, Mortal Shell II has officially entered Advanced Access. However, this is not an Early Access period open to everyone. Only players who have purchased the Devout Edition can start playing from August 17, giving them up to 72 hours of early access before the general release on August 20. Players who purchase the Standard Edition will still have to wait until the official release date.

For those who have not been following the game closely, this is also a good time to consider the Devout Edition. The digital edition not only grants Advanced Access but also includes the Obsidian Skin Set, featuring skins for all eight playable Shells. The Devout Edition, which is $10 more than the Standard Edition.

As a result, players who pre-ordered the Devout Edition can already begin their journey in Mortal Shell II, while the rest of the community only has a few more days to wait. The game will officially launch on August 20, 2026, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, marking the point when all players can step into Cold Symmetry's new world.
It looks like a really good game, I think it looked much better in the trailers, but it's very good.

I'm a little disappointed that there's no online co-op or asynchronous multiplayer.

The 72 hours of early access with the Devout Edition seems like a generous gesture to me.

I think it's a great move to remove the traditional stamina bar. Replacing it with the determination system forces you to play aggressively at all times, which makes the combat much more fluid compared to the first game.

Prefiero no juzgar demasiado rápido.
I prefer not to judge too quickly. With a little perspective, it will be easier to assess the strengths and limitations.

This trend of being able to play games a few days "in advance" is becoming more than annoying... All this just to squeeze even more money out of the suckers, what a disgrace!
