Metal Slug Tactics is set to release on November 5

Publisher Dotemu, known for games like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge and Streets of Rage 4, along with developer Leikir Studio, creators of Rogue Lords, announced today that Metal Slug Tactics, the turn-based tactical RPG adaptation of the iconic run-and-gun franchise, will be released on November 5 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

The release date trailer introduces three additional playable characters: Clark Still, Ralf Jones, and Leona Heidern. It showcases intense gameplay, with each character bringing their own unique set of skills to the battlefield. These three characters aren't exactly newcomers, as they hail from the Ikari Warriors series, an SNK arcade game released in 1986.

Metal Slug Tactics Release Date Announced

Clark Still originally comes from the Ikari Warriors series. He first became playable in Metal Slug 6. With immense strength and combat experience, Clark acts as a tank-like ally, capable of moving enemies around the map and inflicting long-range damage that causes status effects. His arcade partner and fellow Ikari Warrior, Ralf Jones, also returns to battle. Ralf, another debut in Metal Slug 6, is a close-combat master, delivering devastating punches and charging at enemies head-on like a raging bull.

The latest addition to the Ikari Warriors is Leona Heidern. Leona is a revered fighter who can replace fallen enemies with decoys, distracting and subduing enemy forces in her unique approach to battlefield dominance. All three also appear in King of Fighters, their latest appearance being in King of Fighters XV.

Metal Slug Tactics was fully developed by Leikir Studio and supported by Dotemu, with assets provided by SNK, the IP holder. The tactical RPG surprised fans by revealing that it will feature roguelike elements. This means that the maps in Metal Slug Tactics will be procedurally generated, so each battle will differ from the last. Skill trees, perks, and equipment will carry over from round to round, so you won't have to worry about losing progress.
