RECUR: Rewind Time and Uncover an Apocalyptic Mystery
RECUR is an upcoming atmospheric 2.5D puzzle-platformer developed by German indie studio kaleidoscube and published by Astra Logical, a team behind A Juggler's Tale. In this narrative adventure, players step into the shoes of an ordinary postman caught in the middle of a sudden catastrophic apocalypse. However, the disaster grants him an extraordinary ability: direct control over the flow of time itself. To survive the collapse and uncover the origin of his powers, players must manipulate environmental physics to navigate through a decaying world.
Manipulating the Past to Secure the Future
Gameplay centers on seamless time manipulation tied directly to physics and environmental interaction. Unlike traditional platformers that rely on fast reflexes, RECUR demands clever spatial and temporal problem-solving. Players must pause, rewind, and fast-forward specific objects or entire sequences to clear obstacles. Puzzles range from micro-scale challenges—such as rewinding an object's trajectory to break barriers while preserving the state of the surrounding environment—to macro-scale set pieces, like rewinding catastrophic structural failures to clear a path through falling debris.
A Suspenseful Fusion of Braid and Little Nightmares
Drawing structural inspiration from time-looping puzzle classics like Braid and visual atmosphere from cinematic platformers like Little Nightmares, RECUR combines suspenseful pacing with clever puzzle logic. The game focuses on environmental storytelling, utilizing dramatic camera shifts and expressive visuals to immerse players in its ticking-clock scenario. Designed for PC, RECUR delivers an inventive take on temporal mechanics that forces players to rethink cause, effect, and narrative progression.
