Logitech’s Pro X3 Lightspeed headset upgrades gaming audio and voice

Logitech is giving its flagship esports headset a relatively quick refresh with the Pro X3 Lightspeed, the successor to the Pro X2. While the new wireless headset retains the familiar design and 50mm graphene drivers, Logitech has focused on improving two areas that matter during long gaming sessions: microphone quality and battery life.

The detachable omnidirectional microphone is one of the biggest changes. Some Pro X2 users found that their voices could sound unnatural in recordings, so Logitech has redesigned the mic with a wider 75Hz to 20kHz frequency response. The company says the expanded range should produce more natural voice capture while reducing the need for aggressive software filters.

The 50mm graphene drivers return, with Logitech continuing to favor the lightweight and rigid material for its ability to separate low, mid, and high frequencies while keeping distortion down. That can be particularly useful in competitive shooters, where clearer positional audio can help players pick up approaching footsteps and other subtle cues. Logitech G Hub also provides a 10-band EQ for users who want to fine-tune the headset's sound profile.

Connectivity remains versatile, with Lightspeed wireless, Bluetooth, and 3.5mm wired audio all supported. The low-latency wireless connection remains the primary option for gaming, while the analog input provides a wired alternative. Bluetooth is also available, although Logitech still does not appear to offer wireless source mixing.

Battery life, meanwhile, receives a substantial boost from the previous generation. The Pro X3 Lightspeed is rated for up to 70 hours, compared with 50 hours for the Pro X2, giving users considerably more time between charges.

The overall aviator-style design remains familiar, but Logitech has made a few comfort changes based on its collaboration with esports players. The leatherette headband now features perforations intended to improve airflow, while buyers can choose between leatherette and velour memory foam ear cups. The trade-off is a slightly higher weight, with the new headset coming in at 356 grams.

The Pro X3 Lightspeed is available in black, white, and magenta. Pre-orders are now open at $249.99 / €259.99 / £229.99, with shipping expected to begin October 8. The headset joins Logitech's latest wave of Pro X3 gaming hardware, including the recently announced Pro X3 Superstrike, a flagship mouse built around the company's HITS haptic switch technology.
