Leaked NVIDIA RTX 5090 specs reveal 32GB VRAM, 600W power draw, and massive core count
There have been ongoing rumors about the RTX 5090, but we are now gaining better insight into the development of Nvidia's flagship RTX 50-series GPU. A well-known hardware leaker, @kopite7kimi, has reported that the highly anticipated RTX 5090, poised to be one of the top graphics cards, will have a significant power requirement of 600 watts.
The leaker revealed specifications for both the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 on X (formerly Twitter). While previous hints from @kopite7kimi about the RTX 50-series graphics cards have been vague, this is the first time the leaker has shared complete specs. According to the leak, the RTX 5090 will necessitate 600W of power and feature an impressive 32GB of GDDR7 memory on a 512-bit bus.

There have been murmurs in recent months suggesting that the power consumption of the RTX 5090 could potentially reach 600W, but this is the first time it has been mentioned in conjunction with other specifications. In comparison, the RTX 4090 requires 450W of power. However, the 16-pin power connection used by the RTX 4090 is capable of 600W, indicating that Nvidia might fully utilize that connection with the next-gen RTX 5090. Despite the increased power demands, @kopite7kimi still asserts that the RTX 5090 will utilize a dual-slot cooler.
The leaker also provided details about the RTX 5080, stating that the GPU will require 400W and offer 16GB of GDDR7 memory on a 256-bit bus. This does not represent a significant improvement in specifications compared to the RTX 4080 Super, indicating that Nvidia plans to maintain a substantial performance gap between the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080, as it did with the RTX 40-series graphics cards.

Nvidia has not yet confirmed the existence of the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080, although there is already considerable information available about the upcoming Blackwell architecture that the GPUs will utilize. Nvidia has already introduced this architecture to the data center, despite encountering a delay in the release of its enterprise Blackwell GPUs due to a design flaw.
If these specifications are accurate, Nvidia's RTX 5090 will be a formidable gaming graphics card, commanding a substantial price tag. After all, this GPU boasts over double the number of CUDA cores compared to the RTX 5080, and exactly twice the amount of RAM as its lower-end counterpart. These are remarkable specifications.
