Konami’s Anniversary Collections announced

Konami celebrates its 50th anniversary with three commemorative collections.

Konami confirmed the release of their Anniversary Collection series after they were revealed by the Australian Classification Board last week. The list of collections includes Arcade Classics, Castlevania Anniversary Collection, and Contra Anniversary Collection. These will all be available digitally on PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One. Each of them will have a bonus ebook with new information on the titles, interviews with the development staff, behind-the-scenes, and designs and sketches that have never been shown to the public. The series highlights iconic arcade games and classic titles loved by the fans for many years. The games are easy to play and addictive to the highest level. The arrival of these games marks the epoch of nostalgia. As the old games from the arcade machines land in the modern platforms, today's players will now be able to get a taste of how the classics were back in the day. The first collection, Arcade Classics Anniversary Collection will be available from April 18, 2019. It will give access to eight games: Haunted Castle, Typhoon (A-JAX), TwinBee, Thunder Cross, Scramble, Life Force (Salamander), Nemesis (Gradius), and Vulcan Venture (Gradius II). Players will experience all the thrill of playing these enhanced arcade classics in their PCs and consoles soon.

Konami's Castlevania Collection will follow early summer this year. It is said to be designed as a complete collection around the origins of the historic Castlevania franchise. It will also include eight different games, but only four of those have been confirmed so far: Castlevania (NES), Castlevania 2: Belmont’s Revenge (Game Boy), Castlevania 3: Dracula’s Curse (NES), and Super Castlevania 4 (Super NES).

The Contra Anniversary Collection will also be released around the same time and it will feature eight games too, but only a few of them have been revealed: Contra, Super Contra, Super C, and Contra III: The Alien Wars. This collection will bring back the classic Run and Gun straight to modern platforms.
