Here’s a look at A Plague Tale: Requiem gameplay
A Plague Tale: Requiem was announced back in June 2021. Since then, news about the sequel to the critically-acclaimed A Plague Tale: Innocence has been sparse. However, during the 2021 The Game Awards, developer Asobo did release a gameplay trailer that gives a peek at the stunning visuals Requiem has in store:
A new Old World
Set in medieval France, Requiem brings us back to a “desperate struggle for survival” to save a loved one. Here’s the premise of the game’s story according to Focus Interactive:
"After escaping their devastated homeland, Amicia and Hugo travel far south, to new regions and vibrant cities. There, they attempt to start a new life and control Hugo's curse. But, when Hugo's powers reawaken, death and destruction return in a flood of devouring rats. Forced to flee once more, the siblings place their hopes in a prophesized island that may hold the key to saving Hugo."
The gameplay shows the stealth mechanics and combat that we saw from Innocence, but it also delivers on the promise of exquisite new environments, including beaches, flower-covered fields, towns, the open sea, festivals, and palaces. Of course, we’re not spared the flood of rats that has follows young Hugo.

Game director Kevin Choteau states that Requiem will have “more of everything” (especially rats). He states that they’ve already done all they can graphics-wise, so “the next generation is about creating as much of a living world as you can. Where everything is moving and reacting to your actions.”
"More of everything" includes the playtime. A playtest of the game reported that Requiem will have 16 hours of gameplay, slightly longer than Innocence’s 12 hours.
When is the A Plague Tale: Requiem release date?
As of yet, no specific release date has been announced apart from the game launching in 2022. It will launch on PlayStation 5, Switch (via cloud streaming), Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Fans can also look forward to Requiem coming to day one with Xbox Game Pass in 2022. You can get A Plague Tale: Requiem code today with our comparator.
