H1Z1’s name changes to Z1 Battle Royale
No surprise there, H1Z1 changes its name again.
It has undergone several name changes before, and it’s doing it again. It has been known as H1Z1, then changed toH1Z1: King of the Kill, then back to H1Z1, and now this.
However, the name change is justifiable since it was the very game of Daybreak Game’s H1Z1, that put the term Battle Royale on the map. This is the game that dominated Steam in the early 2017, long before Apex Legends, PUBG, and Fortnite Battle Royale came into the picture. So, it’s just reasonable to capitalize on that. With the game’s new season and a new developer, they decided to do a new name change from H1Z1 to Z1 Battle Royale The game’s third season is called The Return of the King. It is a part of a new effort to bring it back to what it was once, the very gameplay that drew hundreds of thousand players. According to what NanTG General Manager, Anthony Castoro, says in his announcement, this game “represents the big delivery on the promise that the new NanTG team made when it took over development last September: bring back the game that so many of you fell in love with in the classic “King of the Kill” era around Preseason 3 at the end of 2016 and in early 2017.”
This is the biggest overhaul by far since the NanTG took over the development from Daybreak Game. The older animations for characters actions such as running, jumping, weapon reloading, gun recoil tweaks, and the look of the previous game’s world are all brought back. Z1 Battle Royale will look more like the game’s earlier version. In the same announcement, Castro said that they are also planning to address the old weapon models, classic in-game UI elements, and many more. It looks like NanTG is going for the ultimate rebranding in the land of video gaming this year.
