GTA 6 hype is making the PS5 Pro almost impossible to find right now

Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto VI is still expected to target 30FPS on PlayStation 5, but that hasn't stopped players from rushing to buy Sony's most powerful console. The PS5 Pro has reportedly sold out at several major US retailers, including Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and Sony's own PlayStation Direct store.

The sudden buying frenzy appears to be closely tied to the latest GTA 6 Extended Look trailer, which gave players another lengthy glimpse at Rockstar's upcoming blockbuster. The footage also highlighted the PlayStation 5 version of the game, with Rockstar confirming that the trailer was captured on the base PS5.

Despite the considerably more powerful PS5 Pro, GTA 6 is still expected to run at 30FPS, with CPU limitations reportedly being the primary obstacle to reaching 60FPS. The shortage has already pushed some buyers toward the secondary market. Third-party sellers on Amazon, Walmart, and eBay have consequently started asking as much as $1,300, representing a substantial markup over Sony's official price.

Rockstar has confirmed that GTA 6 will receive specific PS5 Pro enhancements, although exactly what those improvements will involve remains unclear. The developer hasn't promised a 60FPS mode, and technical analysis continues to suggest that maintaining a consistent 60FPS could be difficult even on the upgraded hardware.
