Ghost of Yōtei sets official launch date

After months of eager speculation, Ghost of Yōtei, the next major title from Sucker Punch Productions, finally has a release date. First teased during a State of Play event, the game was initially slated for a 2025 launch. Now, seven months later, it's been confirmed that Ghost of Yōtei will release exclusively on PlayStation 5 on October 2, 2025. The announcement came alongside a stunning new trailer titled "The Onryō’s List":

The short, three-minute trailer offers a deeper glimpse into Ghost of Yōtei's upcoming story, set 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. 

Ghost of Yōtei introduces Atsu, a new protagonist fueled by revenge. After witnessing the massacre of her family and the destruction of her village at the hands of a brutal gang known as the Yōtei Six, Atsu disappears—only to return 16 years later with vengeance on her mind. Armed with deadly abilities and a hit list of six targets—The Snake, The Oni, The Kitsune, The Spider, The Dragon, and Lord Saito—Atsu embarks on a deadly mission through a dark, myth-inspired version of feudal Japan.
 

An Evolved Open World Experience

While Ghost of Tsushima was widely praised, it also received some criticism for its repetitive side content. Sucker Punch has acknowledged that feedback and promises that Ghost of Yōtei will feature a less repetitive open world, aiming to deliver a more varied and immersive experience.

Players can expect deeper narrative choices, new combat mechanics, and even more refined stealth gameplay—all designed to push the franchise forward in meaningful ways.
