Ghost of Yötei will be less repetitive than its predecessor

The recent announcement of Ghost of Yötei left the fans of the first game in the series eager to know more. A spectacular trailer provided a great introduction to the new experience from Sucker Punch Productions, a thrilling adventure set in a very distant location from the events in Ghost of Tsushima and about 300 years later. Jin Sakai is just a legend lost in time and another hero will rise as a hero to fight against all odds in an epic adventure set in the outskirts of Mount Yōtei, a totally different scenario than the one players visited in the previous game.

Ghost of Yötei is not a direct sequel to Ghost of Tsushima although both belong to the same series. Instead, the new game will offer players another unique experience with a remarkable man at the core, a deep narrative and a breathtaking scenario. In that regard, Sucker Punch Studios has revealed that the game won't be as repetitive as the previous one.

A different experience

In a recent interview with The NY Times, the creative directors of Ghost of Tsushima confirmed that they aim for a different type of experience with Ghost of Yötei.

"One challenge that comes with making an open-world game is the repetitive nature of doing the same thing over again. We wanted to balance against that and find unique experiences."

Also, the protagonist of Ghost of Yötei is a female. The existence of Samurai women is often overlooked when looking at Japan's history as women's traditional roles were usually quite different in the era the game takes place. It will be interesting to discover what kind of approach Sucker Punch has taken to this matter and the kind of interactions Atsu will have with other characters in the game.

Ghost of Yötei promises to be quite an exciting adventure but we have yet to discover more details about it. Hopefully, the developer will shed some light on the story and other gameplay novelties in the future. So far, the most noticeable difference with Ghost of Tsushima in terms of gameplay is that Atsu will be able to use firearms, which will offer players plenty of new strategies in combat.
