Duskfade Launches: Step Into a Mysterious Clockpunk World
After spending some time on the community’s radar through its playable demos, Duskfade officially launched on August 13, 2026. The new game from Weird Beluga Studio takes players into a world where machinery, magic, and mysteries surrounding time exist side by side. With a nostalgic 3D action-platformer style, Duskfade is now ready for players to experience the full journey the development team has built.
Duskfade and what makes it stand out
The journey of Duskfade actually began well before its release. The first demo arrived on Steam on September 25, 2025, giving players the chance to experience the opening parts of the game and share their feedback with Weird Beluga Studio.
What makes this process interesting is that the demo continued to evolve throughout development. The team kept expanding and adjusting its content based on community feedback before releasing a much larger version in June 2026. This update increased the demo’s content by around 50%, while adding Tick Town, new NPCs, additional lore, four difficulty levels, and more biomes to give players a clearer look at the world of Duskfade.
The response was also largely positive. The demo currently holds a Very Positive rating on Steam, with around 91% positive reviews from more than 560 reviews. Players have frequently praised its visual style, world design, and nostalgic feel reminiscent of classic 3D platformers, although combat and some platforming mechanics have also received feedback for further improvement.
The Duskfade demo also earned three awards at BCN Game Fest, including Best Game and Best Sound and Music. It was a notable achievement for Weird Beluga Studio while the game was still being polished.
The adventure in Duskfade takes place in Tearfeld, a world that has been trapped in eternal darkness following events surrounding the Clock Tower. Zirian, the game’s protagonist, sets out with his mechanical bird Cuckoo to rescue his sister from Despair, while uncovering mysteries surrounding time and the Master Clockmakers. The world itself has a distinctive clockpunk style, bringing machines, gears, and mechanical technology together with areas filled with a more fantastical atmosphere. From Tick Town to magical forests and ruins warped by the passage of time, Zirian’s journey takes players through a variety of different environments.
Built around this setting, Duskfade combines exploration with 3D action-platforming. Zirian can run, jump, glide through the environment, use the Grapple to move around, and unleash Blast Attack against enemies. These abilities are not only useful in combat but also help players find their way forward and reach hidden areas, creating a steady mix of exploration and action. This approach also shows clear inspiration from the golden age of 3D platformers, but Weird Beluga Studio is not simply trying to recreate an old-school experience. Instead, Duskfade places that familiar spirit into a world of its own, built around time, clockpunk technology, and mysteries waiting to be uncovered.
After going through multiple demo versions and making adjustments based on player feedback, Duskfade is now officially available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. For anyone who enjoys classic-inspired 3D action-platformers, Duskfade is worth checking out, with the journey through Tearfeld now ready to begin.
