Don't expect Elden Ring 2 anytime soon
Given the impressive success of Elden Ring, it would be easy to assume that FromSoftware would be interested in releasing a sequel. Acknowledged as one of the best games of all time, Elden Ring surpasses all previous games released by the Japanese developer studio in most aspects. This includes, of course, the level of difficulty, which was already excruciating for many players in the three games of the Dark Souls Trilogy, but also in Bloodborne. In fact, FromSoftware has turned a high level of difficulty into one of the most appealing features of its games, which is something that sounds crazy. In any case, it seems that you won't have to worry about a possible Elden Ring 2 that could be even more challenging than its predecessor.
No sequel but...
According to Elden Ring director and FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki, the studio has no plans to release a sequel to Elden Ring, at least not anytime soon. However, the door to a second installment in the franchise is not totally closed. During an interview at the PlayStation Partner Awards 2024 Japan Asia, Miyazaki said that the studio is "not really considering developments such as an Elden Ring 2" but immediately after he added that the IP could still be developed further in some form in the future.
Elden Ring fans do not really need a new game right now. The release of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion last summer provided enough content to keep most players busy for a while and it was a critical success. The expansion was so impressive that it has been nominated to the GOTY, which is something rarely seen in the past. FromSoftware has confirmed that it's currently working on other projects, but there is no information about them. The studio has demonstrated that it's capable of creating much more than souls-like games, as we saw with Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon. Whatever FromSoftware is preparing, we can rest assured that it will be a blast.
Until we have more news about upcoming releases from the Japanese studio, Elden Ring continues to be a game you must play if you like thrilling combats and unique adventures. The cheapest Elden Ring CD keys are available with our comparator anytime. Just remember to be prepared to die, a lot.
