Bloodlines 2 will feature visceral and immersive combat
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is back on the frontline again due to its change of developer. Since The Chinese Room took over the development, the studio has revealed plenty of information about their new approach to the game, which ends up being significantly different from the game that was announced originally. Starring Phyre, a vampire elder who wakes up after a hundred years in torpor, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 will offer a thrilling storyline set in the universe of the World of Darkness. The deep narrative of the game will be matched by its exciting action-based combat.
We already got a sneak peek at some of Phyre's abilities in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 when the different clans in the game were announced. Whether you rely on your supernatural strength and speed as a Brujah or drain the vitae from your foes as a Tremere, you have the potential to become a force of destruction.
Feeling like a vampire
The Chinese Room has delved into the details of the combat system in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 in a recent blog post. The main goal of the system is to make you feel like an authentic vampire when you play the game. The game will offer you several ways of facing combat in the game and they have been categorized by the developer. Playing as a Strategic Stalker will require you to use your discipline to sneak on your enemies and swiftly finish them with a lethal attack or bite their throat. If you feel more like an Action Brawler, you will engage your opponents straight away and try to take them down with your superior reflexes and combat skills. However, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 also offers options to those who prefer to become what the studio calls a Narrative Adventurer and are less interested in deep combat mechanics.
"How do we go about achieving this? We focus on immersion over complexity: A streamlined control scheme with actions that are easy for all three playstyles to pick up and play. We then build depth on top of these to give longer-term mastery for the players that want it."
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is shaping into an exciting adventure that could be even better than what the fans expected initially. Hopefully, we will be able to discover a bit more about the game in a full gameplay reveal that should happen soon.
