BLEACH Rebirth of Souls gets a trailer highlighting its gameplay systems

Bandai Namco has released a new BLEACH Rebirth of Souls trailer, showcasing all the systems involved in the upcoming fighting game. The preview begins by highlighting the sword combat mechanics, showing that each character has unique attributes but shares basic moves like Quick Attack Combo for fast, weaker strikes and Flash Attack Combo, which deals more damage. For instance, some characters can hit opponents from a greater distance, while others need to get up close and personal.

Next, the video explains the Reverse Gauge, a resource used to perform Reverse Actions. Chain Reverse can be used in combos to deal extra damage, Burst Reverse pushes back the opponent and interrupts their offense, and Soul Reverse gradually restores the fighter's health while enhancing their speed. Two additional combat mechanics are highlighted: Follow-up Hoho, which extends combo time, and Counter, which functions as a straightforward defensive maneuver.

The trailer then delves into the combat rules. Although BLEACH Rebirth of Souls may appear to be a traditional fighting game, it introduces unique terminology and systems. Fighters aim to deplete the opponent's Reishi and then destroy their Konpaku, Bleach's term for life force. After inflicting sufficient damage, players can use a Kikon Move to finish off the opponent's Konpaku. This system allows even weakened players to turn the tide of battle.

Another unique mechanic is Awakening, which boosts all of a character's stats, enhances their speed, and unlocks a new skill set. For fans of the anime, Awakening is equivalent to activating Bankai. While in the Awakened state, fighters can unleash Kikon Channel, enabling an even more powerful Kikon Move that can dramatically shift the dynamics of combat. The trailer emphasizes that this ability to reverse the odds is BLEACH Rebirth of Souls' standout feature.

The game will feature offline and online modes and a story mode, which will cover the anime's arcs from Ichigo becoming a substitute soul reaper to the conclusion of the Arrancar arc. Additionally, there's a Secret Story Mode, which allows players to experience the main narrative through the perspective of other characters, similar to the Episodes in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero.

BLEACH Rebirth of Souls is set to release on March 21, 2025, for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
