Updates & Patches

Banner of the Maid, the critically acclaimed tactical RPG developed by Azure Flame Studio and published by 2P Games, has captured a dedicated following with its unique alternate-history fantasy take on the French Revolution. Players step into the military boots of Pauline Bonaparte, Napoleon’s sister, commanding troops in hardcore turn-based grid combat while navigating the cutthroat political factions of Paris.

Melding deep, Fire Emblem-style strategy with distinct anime aesthetics, the title has stood out as a premier indie homage to classic 90s strategy RPGs. Now, years after its initial launch, a major new audio update has completely transformed the tactical experience.

Legacy Tactical RPG Receives Dramatic Combat Audio Overhaul

In a shocking move for a legacy title, the developers have officially implemented full Japanese battle command voiceovers for the game's combat sequences. While the narrative portions remain unvoiced, the inclusion of dramatic Japanese audio for active battlefield commands adds a powerful layer of JRPG nostalgia to the smoke-filled, Napoleonic skirmishes.

To celebrate this definitive version of the game, a massive 80% discount has been launched on Steam, offering the perfect entry point for tactical enthusiasts who have been waiting for native voice acting before diving into the fray.

Developer Teasers Hint at a Potential Franchise Future

Crucially, this update represents more than just a celebratory farewell to a beloved project. In their official announcement, the developers dropped a tantalizing hint about what lies ahead, stating that it is finally time to "move forward" with some "new ideas." This teaser strongly suggests that a sequel or a spiritual successor is currently cooking behind the scenes.

Whether you are a veteran commander ready to hear your favorite characters speak in battle or a newcomer eager to conquer France on a budget, this surprising update makes it the perfect moment to return to the front lines. Check out our comparison website for the best price on Banner of the Maid.

It's a pleasant surprise, but I wonder how many players will actually come back solely for Japanese dubbing. Nevertheless, it's a positive sign: the developers continue to support their game and respect their community.

This type of initiative deserves to be applauded. Adding Japanese voice acting after launch shows that developers continue to listen to their community. Many publishers quickly abandon their games.
