Atlus might reveal Persona and Shin Megami announcements for 2025
At the end of each year, Japanese game developers from various studios discuss their plans and aspirations for the following year in interviews with 4Gamer. This year, renowned figures such as Hiroshi Takai, director of Final Fantasy XVI, and Yosuke Hayashi, producer of Rise of the Ronin, teased new projects. However, one of the most intriguing insights came from Atlus, whose comments suggest a promising 2025 for JRPG enthusiasts.
Naoya Maeda, director of Persona 5 Tactica, hinted at a secret project, stating it will offer players a "new experience." Meanwhile, Kazuhisa Wada, P-Studio's Chief Director and Creative Producer, spoke about carefully navigating the studio's direction due to high stakes but said they will do their "best to deliver even more memorable games to you, so please continue to support us," which suggests that Atlus will be launching new games next year and not only announcing them.
Shin Megami Tensei Series To Receive News in 2025
Shinjirou Takata, who works on the Shin Megami Tensei series, also revealed that his team is hard at work on a new title. Takata expressed hope for an announcement soon, though it's likely a major Shin Megami Tensei news rather than a game release. In 2024, Atlus released Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, an expanded version of the original game. However, speculation is rife about whether the new project might be a remake or remaster of a classic title since the latest series remaster was Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster back in 2021.
Fans are particularly hopeful for an announcement of Persona 6. Persona 5 was initially launched in 2016 on PS3, with its expanded version, Persona 5 Royal, arriving in 2022. If Persona 6 is revealed in 2025, with a potential release in 2026, it would mark a decade-long gap between mainline entries. Atlus has been on a roll recently. In 2024, they released Persona 3 Reload, and the subsidiary Studio Zero caught the world by storm with Metaphor: ReFantazio, which won Best RPG of the Year at The Game Awards. With this steady development pipeline, fans can expect any 2025 announcements to align with the studio's high standards and deliver a satisfying experience.
If you're unfamiliar with Atlus games, consider exploring their latest release, Metaphor: ReFantazio. It's a lengthy RPG packed with content set in a meticulously crafted fantasy world.
