ASUS has announced that it has “identified the problem” responsible for “stuttering and performance disruptions" in certain ROG laptops. BIOS updates are being developed for all impacted ASUS ROG laptop models, with initial beta BIOS releases for the 2023 SCAR 15 and Zephyrus M16 expected this week.
ASUS intends to deliver BIOS updates for all affected ROG laptop models in phases, with the first update set for early October. The company has assured that utilizing its beta BIOS updates for ROG laptops will not void any warranties.
Users of ASUS laptops who are concerned can be reassured that updates are forthcoming. However, the fact that this issue persisted unnoticed for an extended period suggests that the “stuttering and performance disruptions” are relatively minor. Still, the issue is valid, and ASUS has initiated measures to resolve it.

From the comprehensive technical investigation, it appears that TUF Gaming models, such as the TUF Gaming A14, are not impacted, despite sharing much of the same hardware as their ROG Scar, ROG Strix, or ROG Zephyrus counterparts. As highlighted in the embedded tweet, ASUS has only issued fixes for the ROG Strix Scar 15 (G533ZW) and the Zephyrus M16 (GU604VI) introduced in 2023.
A strategy is now in place to distribute updates to all affected users. Some users can access beta updates now, with finalized updates scheduled for rollout in the upcoming weeks. Nevertheless, ASUS emphasizes that these BIOS updates remain in beta. It is likely that solutions for additional laptop models will become available in due time. Unfortunately, ASUS has yet to specify a timeline for these other laptops. For further details on the ACPI firmware issue, please refer to the ASUS gaming laptop technical investigation.
