ASUS confirms the presence of 96-core Ryzen Threadripper 9000 series Zen 5 CPUs
A recent listing for the ASUS Pro WS TRX50-SAGE motherboard has disclosed the upcoming Ryzen Threadripper processors from AMD, which may offer “up to 96 cores” in both “Threadripper 9000” and “Threadripper PRO 9000” variations.
This information surfaced shortly after Gigabyte published its “next-gen CPU” update for TRX50-series motherboards, serving as additional confirmation that the launch of new Ryzen Threadripper CPUs is approaching.
AMD is anticipated to unveil its Ryzen Threadripper 9000 series processors at Computex 2025. With the transition to Zen 5 architecture, AMD’s latest TRX50 CPUs are expected to attract considerable interest from high-end users. The architectural innovations in Zen 5 are particularly advantageous for professional applications.

The new 9000-series Threadripper CPUs will provide users with access to AMD's Math Acceleration Unit, a complete AVX-512 datapath, and enhanced cache bandwidth. Zen 5 also incorporates AI acceleration capabilities that are beneficial for contemporary users.
Threadripper has remained a leader in the ultra-high-end CPU market for several years. With the introduction of the 9000 series, AMD will offer developers the advantages of its latest CPU architecture and improved power efficiency. Although transitioning from Zen 4 to Zen 5 may seem straightforward, Zen 5 offers significant enhancements for high-end users.
The Ryzen Threadripper 9000 is engineered for demanding workloads, making it ideal for professionals engaged in content creation, 3D rendering, and multitasking. However, for gamers seeking exceptional frame rates, efficient performance, and top-notch capabilities, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D continues to be the optimal choice.
