8BitDo unveils limited-edition Gears of War: E-Day keyboard and mouse

8BitDo is expanding its Gears of War accessory lineup with two new gaming peripherals designed around Gears of War: E-Day. Following the previously announced Gears of War-themed Xbox controller charging dock, the company has now revealed special editions of its Retro 87 mechanical keyboard and Retro R8 mouse.

The new accessories are part of the 8BitDo Gears of War: E-Day Keyboard and Mouse Collection, created in collaboration with Xbox. Both peripherals adopt a black and crimson color scheme inspired by the game, with fractured-earth patterns and Gears of War branding throughout.

The Retro 87 Mechanical Keyboard Gears of War: E-Day Edition is based on the existing Xbox version of the keyboard, but replaces its green color scheme with a darker black-and-red design. The Gears of War: E-Day logo sits above the function row, while the Game Bar key swaps the Xbox branding for the iconic Gears of War logo.

8BitDo has also given the keycaps a varied appearance, combining translucent red, solid red, and black caps. The first four keys on the number row are replaced by weapon-themed designs inspired by the franchise. Buyers also get a translucent red 2.4GHz receiver and two wired Super Buttons featuring Gears of War insignias.

Under the keycaps, the keyboard uses 8BitDo Cloud Gray linear switches developed alongside Huano. This is a change from the Kailh Jellyfish X switches found on the standard Xbox edition. The keyboard also features hot-swappable switches, RGB lighting with eight modes, and N-key rollover, while supporting Windows and Android devices through Bluetooth, 2.4GHz wireless, or USB-C.

The Retro R8 Mouse follows the same crimson-and-black aesthetic, with translucent red sections contrasting against black buttons, a black palm rest, and a matching scroll wheel. Its charging dock carries Gears of War: E-Day branding, while the 2.4GHz receiver uses the same translucent red finish as the keyboard's dongle.

For tracking, the mouse uses a PAW 3395 sensor paired with Huano micro switches. It also supports Bluetooth, 2.4GHz wireless, and wired USB-C connectivity, while its 450mAh battery is rated for around 100 hours of use.

The Retro 87 Mechanical Keyboard Gears of War: E-Day Edition costs $119.99 (around €103 / £89), while the Retro R8 Mouse Gears of War: E-Day Edition is priced at $59.99 (around €52 / £44). Both are available to preorder from the 8BitDo eShop, with the keyboard also listed on Amazon. Regardless of where you purchase these accessories, they are scheduled to launch on October 30.
