    FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

How does the alien threat level affect the types of missions I'll encounter and the composition of alien forces?
The alien threat level dictates the frequency of UFO sightings, the types of missions available (e.g., terror missions, base assaults), and the mix of alien units you'll face. As the threat level rises, expect tougher enemies and more challenging scenarios.
Can I research and produce multiple aircraft simultaneously, and how does this affect my air superiority?
Yes, you can build multiple aircraft. The number of aircraft you have directly impacts your ability to intercept UFOs. Having a larger air force allows you to respond to more incursions and defend multiple areas concurrently, crucial for maintaining air superiority.
How does soldier morale impact their performance in combat, and what factors influence it?
Soldier morale affects their accuracy, reaction speed, and likelihood of panicking under fire. Morale is influenced by factors like seeing allies die, taking heavy damage, and the overall difficulty of the mission. Keeping morale high is key to winning battles.
What are the key differences between the different alien races, and how do I adapt my tactics to counter each one?
Different alien races have unique strengths, weaknesses, and behaviors. For example, the Sectoids are numerous and use psionic attacks, while the Androns are heavily armored and use powerful weapons. Researching alien autopsies and observing their behavior in combat will help you formulate effective counter-strategies.
How does the Geoscape's strategic layer influence the tactical battles, and what are the crucial resource management considerations?
The Geoscape is where you manage resources, build bases, and intercept UFOs. Successful Geoscape management is vital. Critical resources include alloys (for aircraft and equipment), supplies (for soldiers), and scientists/engineers (for research and production). Effective resource allocation is the backbone of your strategy.
What is the function of base defense missions, and how can I prepare for them?
Base defense missions occur when aliens launch an assault on your bases. Preparing involves building defenses like turrets, placing soldiers strategically, and researching technologies to aid your base's defense. Success prevents the loss of vital equipment and personnel.
How does the research tree work, and which technologies should I prioritize to achieve success?
The research tree allows you to unlock new weapons, armor, aircraft, and base facilities. Prioritizing research is crucial. You'll need to balance your focus across different areas, from weapons to alien biology to better protect your soldiers and advance your tactical edge.
How does weapon and armor customization affect my squad's combat effectiveness?
Weapon customization (such as different ammunition types and attachments) and armor upgrades directly impact your squad's capabilities. Customizing your equipment to suit the mission and the enemy you're facing is essential to victory. Consider the balance of protection vs. firepower.
What is the purpose of capturing alien crafts and equipment, and how does this benefit my war effort?
Capturing alien crafts allows you to reverse engineer their technology. Alien equipment can provide advanced weaponry and armor that can dramatically improve your squad's effectiveness. Capturing these technologies is key to staying ahead of the alien threat.
How do I deal with the psionic attacks used by some alien units, and how does this change the way I approach combat?
Psionic attacks can inflict debilitating effects on your soldiers, such as fear or mind control. Counteracting psionics involves researching psionic defenses and utilizing tactics that minimize exposure. Managing your squad's mental state is crucial in any battle that involves psionic enemies.
