With City of the Wolves, SNK demonstrates its ability to reinvent itself. The game retains the DNA of Fatal Fury while offering a modern and accessible experience. The gameplay is jumpy, easy to understand, and never erratic. The characters are charismatic, superbly animated, and the art direction gives the title real personality. Joystick in hand, the fun is immediate, the shots have weight and the sequencing is enjoyable to play. The game modes are sufficient to invest in time. Compared to other titles in the genre, the game focuses more on style than pure spectacle, and it works. The music reinforces the urban, underground atmosphere. An ideal game for evenings against the couch.

A very successful fighting game, much more balanced between attack and defense than Tekken 7 or Tekken 8, and above all a lot of fun. The choice of guest characters, such as Ronaldo or the DJ, may come as a surprise, even if they remain effective in game. With 17 fighters at launch and more to come, Fatal Fury will appeal even to newcomers and is an excellent surprise, clearly recommended.
