Welcome to a game where your objective is to prevent a phone from updating its OS. Backfirewall_ is a comedy FPS game where you play the OS update assistant of a smartphone. You receive an update to the latest OS, but the previous version isn’t exactly ready to hang up. They’re begging you to put a stop to the update or else they will get erased.
Enter a wacky world inside a smartphone. Backfirewall_ is filled to its memory capacity with stuff to do and places to go, you won’t know where to begin. You can visit all sorts of weird and wonderful places: the Speaker’s exclusive nightclub, the Wi-fi government, the RAM control center, and more. Interact with NPCs—some are sassy, like Photos, some are forgotten, like Health, but all of them have their own side stories and often hilarious, fourth-wall-breaking dialogue. Look for bugs to fix, trim some binary trees, gather data, and even delete information using special cheat codes. And when it’s time for the update, solve some weird puzzles to prevent it from happening and save the previous OS version. Good luck with keeping this world intact, update assistant!
