ANNO: Mutationem is a 2.5D action-platformer with RPG elements inspired by other cyberpunk media such as Blade Runner. The game features a unique seamless switching between 2D Action n' Platforming and 3D Exploration to interact with the world and its inhabitants.  You will play as Ann, a highly-skilled combat-trained lone wolf on a personal mission to clean the Metropolis of its sinister mega-corporations, mysterious fringe groups and creatures more bizarre than words can express.

Together with Ayane, your trusty sidekick, you can explore the city and its complex underground structures in 3D segments, as well as its 2D-only areas which are built for combat and platforming. You can move freely and return to previous areas to unlock new events or buy and craft items to upgrade your stats, skills, and gear, or even modify any weapon you find with chips.

    FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Can I switch between combat and exploration modes seamlessly, or are there loading screens or specific transition points?
Combat and exploration seamlessly blend, with no loading screens during transitions. The game dynamically shifts between modes based on your actions and the environment.
How does the 'Analysis' mechanic impact gameplay beyond revealing enemy weaknesses? Does it unlock new actions or story elements?
Analysis uncovers hidden environmental interactions, unearths data logs that expand the narrative, and sometimes reveals vulnerabilities to trigger special combat events.
Regarding the QTE (Quick Time Event) system: Are they frequent, and do they have significant consequences for failure, like game over or significant damage?
QTEs are strategically placed, primarily during boss battles and key story moments. Failure can result in substantial damage or alteration of the encounter, but rarely leads to immediate game overs.
How does the hacking minigame system integrate with the broader combat and exploration mechanics? Is hacking necessary to progress?
Hacking allows access to secret areas, disabling enemy defenses, and occasionally activating environmental traps. It's often vital for optional content and a strategic element in many encounters.
Does the game's crafting system extend beyond consumables and weapon upgrades? Can I craft key items that influence the story or unlock new areas?
Crafting does encompass consumables, upgrades, and a few unique items. Certain crafted items can unlock alternate paths, but most influence combat effectiveness.
How does the cybernetic augmentation system affect combat? Do different augmentations offer varied playstyles, such as tank, damage, or support?
Augmentations drastically change combat through abilities, and stat buffs, allowing players to build towards different playstyles. Some favor direct damage, others focus on tactical control, and a few specialize in support.
Does the game provide a clear indication of a boss's attack patterns, or is understanding attack timing and enemy movements purely based on observation and reflexes?
Bosses feature distinct visual and audio cues for their attacks. However, mastering their patterns requires observation, timing, and sometimes, understanding their specific vulnerabilities revealed through analysis.
Are there choices that impact the story, or is the narrative relatively linear despite the exploration and side quests?
While the core narrative is linear, there are choices during side quests and key story moments. These influence character relationships, unlock optional content, and affect the game's ending.
Can I replay specific combat encounters or bosses to test different builds and strategies after completing the game?
Yes, there is a post-game feature that allows you to replay boss fights and certain combat encounters to experiment with different strategies and character builds.
How does the exploration aspect tie into character progression and skill unlocks? Are there hidden areas containing skill points or resources?
Exploration often rewards players with hidden data, resources, and even skill points in a few select areas. Discovering these secrets is critical for optimizing character builds and overall strength.
