    Outer Wilds sets you on an adventure where you explore the secrets of the universe and of time itself. You play an unnamed astronaut sent to explore a miniature star system by the company Outer Wilds Ventures. There’s only one problem—after 22 minutes, the sun goes supernova, destroying the entire system and you as well. But after this happens, you quickly find yourself warped back to the beginning of the 22-minute mark, ready to try again. It turns out that every time you die, you restart. Using the knowledge you’ve attained on previous runs, can you finally solve the mystery behind the time loop and discover the truth behind this solar system?

    Can I permanently save my progress or keep items across the game's loops?
    No. The game operates on a time loop. You retain knowledge, but not physical items or permanent changes to the world from one loop to the next. Your discoveries are the true form of progress.

    The sun will explode after approximately 22 minutes, resetting the loop. Additionally, some locations are only accessible at certain times, or by using unique mechanics.
