The studio behind Disco Elysium has officially locked in a release window for its next project, ZERO PARADES: For Dead Spies. Developed by ZA/UM, the narrative-driven title is currently slated to arrive this summer, with confirmed versions for PC and PlayStation 5.

Not a detective story

Rather than revisiting the detective framework that defined its previous success, the new game shifts toward a darker espionage narrative. Players step into the role of a spy entangled in political tensions and covert operations, navigating a world shaped by secrecy and moral ambiguity. The change in direction reflects the developers’ intention to explore themes beyond law enforcement, focusing instead on intelligence work and international intrigue.

Despite this shift in setting, ZERO PARADES retains many of the elements that made its predecessor stand out. The game emphasizes complex dialogue systems, internal character dynamics, and decision-making that directly influences the story. Its visual identity also echoes the painterly style that helped define Disco Elysium, suggesting a continuity in artistic vision even as the narrative moves into new territory.

Importantly, the upcoming RPG is not a sequel but a completely separate experience, featuring a new cast of characters and an original storyline. The game will expand on ZA/UM's signature "fail forward" mechanics, encouraging players to embrace mistakes as part of the storytelling rather than treating them as setbacks.

Although the game's dialogs are only voiced in English, it will be localized into several languages, including Chinese, Spanish (Latin America), Russian, and German, with even more language options coming after launch. This will definitely make it more appealing to more players across the world, exactly like it happened with Disco Elysium.

ZERO PARADES: For Dead Spies will launch on March 21, 2026, for PC via Steam, GOG, and Epic Games Store. A version of the game for PlayStation 5 consoles will be available later this year. Carrying the legacy of one of the most critically acclaimed RPGs of recent years, the project faces high expectations, but don't expect it to me more of the same. It will carve out its own identity while building on the strengths that defined its predecessor.
