The Elder Scrolls VI is not ready for release

The Elder Scrolls VI has been in the news since Bethesda's conference at E3 2018, but mostly because of its absence from the video game landscape. The short teaser that was shown at the event certainly left everyone's mouths watering, but it didn't tell us much except that the successor to The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim did exist, and it was indeed in development. Gamers eagerly awaiting The Elder Scrolls VI have since had little or no information, and it was one of the big absentees at E3 2021. It seems there's a good reason for this, and it's clearly not going to please everyone.

In an interview with The Telegraph, Todd Howard spoke about Bethesda's upcoming games, namely Starfield, Indiana Jones, and The Elder Scrolls VI. He was less forthcoming about the latter, however, and for good reason, it seems that the game is quite far away from arriving on our screens: 

"The Creation Engine 2 is a new technology, designed in some way for both games (Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI). It's a new technical foundation. The vast majority of our development work is currently focused on Starfield, but everyone is working on the various parts of the projects, which are intertwined. Keep in mind that The Elder Scrolls VI is still in the design phase, but we're testing the technology: will it be able to handle everything we want to add to this game? Every game will have new technology sets, so The Elder Scrolls VI will bring things to Creation Engine 2 because the game will then need them. "

To sum up, those who were waiting for a release after 10 years of Skyrim or even some gameplay footage of the game, will have to keep waiting, as The Elder Scrolls VI is far from being ready. In the meantime, you can still play or replay Skyrim or The Elder Scrolls Online.
