Supermassive Games has done a great job with their episodic horror series The Dark Pictures Anthology and they just have announced a new chapter. House of Ashes. Both chapters released to the date, Man of Medan and Little Hope, allow players to delve into a thrilling experience of psychological horror as they explore different situations and locations. While Man of Medan follows the adventures of a group of university students that discover a treasure during their vacations and Little Hope puts you in the shoes of a group of students and their teachers stranded in an isolated town surrounded by a strange fog, both games share a common gameplay style in which decision making shapes the story and decides the outcome. Just by choosing between an affirmative answer, a negative one, or none of both you can navigate through different situations and dialogs as you look for clues to solve the mysteries that the games throw at you as you try to survive.
House of Ashes will follow the same pattern but in quite a different scenario. This time will take us to an underground cavern system in the desert as soldiers in an army squad. Surrounded by darkness, we will discover the terrible secrets hidden in this place from ancient times and disturb a terrible evil that should have never been awakened.
The Dark Pictures Anthology - House of Ashes maintains the innovative cooperative horror mechanics of previous games, which allow multiple players to experience the game as one of the different characters, offering an exclusive experience that can be shared from multiple points of view. The new installment in the series will be available in 2021 but an accurate release date has not been announced yet.
