Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is far more complex than Fallen Order

A couple of weeks ahead of the release of the most eagerly awaited Star Wars video game of 2023, there are still many things we don't know about Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Developer Respawn Entertainment has revealed quite a few details about the new chapter in Cal Kestis' story and we know he will be facing new threats to save the galaxy. Due to the epic adventure, he went through in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Cal is now a more mature character that will need to make important decisions about his path in life, rather than being focused on surviving being chased by the Empire's hunting dogs. His endeavors in the previous game have made him an important enemy for the Empire, who will deploy new assets to destroy him. Of course, Cal will enlist the help of new friends and we will see the return of some old faces too.

A natural gameplay evolution

The evolution of Cal's abilities also has a deep impact on combat mechanics. Respawn has explained that he will keep his old abilities as a baseline in this game in order to show his evolution, but Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will offer players a much wider variety of possibilities when facing enemies in thrilling action-based battles. Cal will be able to use different combat stances and weapons to better adapt to your preferences or a specific situation. In his basic stance, he will use a single-blade lightsaber alongside his Force powers to fight. A pair of dual-wield lightsabers will allow him to perform faster attacks at the cost of some range, while a double-bladed lightsaber will be a perfect choice to fight multiple enemies due to a faster speed and better defense. The Crossguard stance sacrifices speed for better range and more powerful attacks. Cal will also be able to wield a blaster and a lightsaber together for the first time to deal with any threat from far away.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is the continuation of Fallen Order, but this goes beyond the story and also takes into account gameplay systems. It feels like the natural evolution of its predecessor, and will surely appeal to all the fans of Star Wars.
