Sony reveals PlayStation monitor with built-in DualSense charging hook

Sony’s new 1440p PlayStation display features a DualSense charging hook

Sony has announced a new 27-inch gaming monitor designed specifically for desktop PlayStation 5 users and PC gamers. This monitor, which carries official PlayStation branding, is set to be released in Japan and the USA next year.

The 27-inch display boasts a resolution of 1440p (QHD) and a maximum refresh rate of 240Hz, along with support for VRR (Variable Refresh Rate). It includes a special charging hook for the DualSense controller, making it compatible with both the standard DualSense and DualSense Edge controllers. This feature allows users to showcase and charge their controllers when they are not being used.

When used with Sony’s PlayStation 5 consoles, the monitor can achieve refresh rates of up to 120 Hz at 1440p, while 240Hz is available for compatible PCs and Macs. The monitor is equipped with VESA mount support, HDR capabilities, built-in stereo speakers, and a 3.5mm audio output. Utilizing an IPS panel, this gaming monitor offers a 1440p resolution.

It's important to note that the maximum resolution supported by Sony’s PlayStation 5 is 4K. The monitor is expected to launch next year in the US and Japan, but Sony has not yet disclosed any pricing information or an official release date.

The specifications for this gaming monitor are quite good, and they hold up against some other third-party options available on the market. What stands out is the seamless integration with PlayStation, particularly the convenient charging dock for your DualSense controller. For those who game on both the PS5 and PC using the DualSense, having the ability to easily dock and charge the controller on the monitor makes it an attractive option. Additionally, the monitor will work with PC and Mac, alongside the PS5, making it a versatile choice for a desktop gaming setup.

Currently, the PlayStation 5 remains the best platform to enjoy Sony’s newest exclusive titles, stunning graphics, and incredibly fast load times.
