Shadow of the Erdtree leaves the door open for a sequel to Elden Ring

There is no doubt about Elden Ring being one of the greatest Souls-like RPGs of all time. The game leaves all the previous titles in the genre far behind in all aspects despite the huge success of the Souls series and Bloodborne, and it's FromSoftware's most acclaimed creation. Therefore, it's normal that the level of hype generated by the upcoming release of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion is through the roof. Not only the expansion will bring new and challenging enemies but also new areas to discover in the Lands Between. The reveal of the expansion was received with joy and the community is eager to discover more about the expansion. Game director Hidetaka Miyazaki has revealed more interesting details about Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree in a recent interview.

First and only

As most fans of the game expected Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree will be the first and only expansion for the game. Once it's released next June, Elden Ring will not receive any kind of additional content and the studio will move to other things. This has been confirmed by Miyazaki, who also has revealed that the studio is not against making a sequel to the critically acclaimed game sometime in the future. Whether it would bear the same name as the original or not is a different matter as Miyazaki has not confirmed this at all, but FromSoftware is open to creating other games set in the world of Elden Ring, which is something that would make the fans very happy.

The release of the expansion is scheduled for June 21, 2024, on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
