Dive Into Scale the Depths, the New Robot Fishing Adventure
Scale the Depths is an indie fishing simulation game that includes elements of economic management and resource calculation (an incremental/casual game). This game was developed from a small Game Jam project by Glass Gecko Games (a small indie team from Canada) and published by Pretty Soon and Phoenix Games on May 28, 2026. Let's explore the mechanics and storyline of this game together!
Addictive gameplay loop: From the fishing rod to the dinner plate
The game is built on a very simple yet addictive core formula: fishing, processing (scaling/cleaning), selling to customers, upgrading equipment, and repeating.
You play as a small robot working as a fishmonger on a boat. Beyond just casting your line, you must directly participate in a highly detailed processing mini-game: scraping off fish scales, removing parasites clinging to the fish, scrubbing away dirt with a sponge, and trimming off excess parts to get a perfect piece of fish.
Your customers are not humans but strange creatures, ranging from cute animals like otters, herons, and Axolotls to mythical entities and ancient monsters (such as Nessie and Kelpie). Each marine species in the game comes with detailed descriptions, providing a vibe that is both relaxing and educational. Different species have different tastes and appetites; serve them well and you will receive generous tips, but if you provide poor service, they will show their attitude immediately.
The money earned is used to upgrade fishing rods, hooks, storage containers, scaling tools, or to unlock new boats and cosmetic items for your little robot.
Scale the Depths also hides an underlying story and secrets than one wouldn't expect from a casual fishing game. As you go deeper into the ocean depths, you will pick up messages in bottles and artifacts and solve environmental puzzles (flipping levers and finding secret passages) to understand why this robot is fishing here in the first place (quite similar to the way Dave the Diver digs deep into its storyline).
The game features 4 distinct fishing zones with completely different ecosystems, fish species, treasures, and puzzles, including Loch Ness, the Outer Banks, or the remote and isolated waters of Point Nemo, giving players plenty of freedom to explore.
Currently, the game has a "Very Positive" rating (86% out of 289 total reviews) on Steam, thanks to its incredibly relaxing, engaging, and addictive gameplay. This is coupled with cute pixel graphics, vibrant colors, and a soundtrack praised as excellent and soothing, along with surprising elements deep beneath the ocean for players to discover instead of just purely fishing.
If you are looking for a game to relax with but still want a storyline with a certain level of depth, this will be an extremely reasonable choice! Remember to use our comparison tool to buy Scale the Depths at the cheapest price!
