Rebuild the world, one disaster at a time, in RoadCraft
RoadCraft is an ambitious vehicle simulation game from Saber Interactive, the creators of MudRunner and SnowRunner, published by Focus Entertainment. This construction simulator immerses players in the role of a disaster recovery company leader tasked with restoring sites ravaged by natural disasters. With a release date confirmed via a January 2025 gameplay trailer, RoadCraft promises a blend of strategic management and hands-on machinery operation, appealing to fans of simulation and sandbox gameplay.
The best features of the game
In RoadCraft, players manage a fleet of over 40 heavy vehicles, including bulldozers, cranes, and tracked dump trucks like the pre-order bonus Aramatsu Bowhead 30T, capable of hauling 30 tons of sand. The game spans eight unique 4km² maps, each with distinct biomes, flooded cities, deserts, mountains, and forests, where players clear debris, rebuild roads and bridges, and recycle materials for reconstruction. A new physics engine, the custom Swarm engine, enhances realism, simulating material behavior (wood, sand, asphalt) and persistent terrain deformation, ensuring your changes to the environment remain.
Gameplay balances manual vehicle control with automation, allowing players to plot AI-driven truck routes for efficiency. A story-driven campaign guides you through global disaster zones, while a four-player co-op mode lets teams tackle tasks together, dividing labor or focusing on shared goals. Customization options, including vehicle colors and company logos, add a personal touch.
A demo released during Steam Next Fest received mixed reviews (60% positive from 3,305 users), with praise for its sandbox freedom but criticism for a steep learning curve. Despite this, RoadCraft’s detailed visuals, strategic depth, and cooperative gameplay make it a promising evolution of Saber’s simulation legacy.
