Psychonauts 2 will be released this year

The first installment of the Psychonauts series celebrated its 15th anniversary last September, but fans have been waiting for its sequel for more than five years. Psychonauts 2 was indeed officially announced back in 2015 at The Game Awards ceremony, but it's one of those games whose development has not been easy. While the first Psychonauts game received excellent reviews from the players, it was a real commercial failure for Double Fine. It was difficult to make a sequel afterward, especially for a studio whose first game didn't generate much income. Other licenses had the same fate, such as Beyond Good Evil, but it had the benefit of Ubisoft's solid backbone.

But Psychonauts 2 has finally made its way after a few ups and downs. Double Fine went through a crowdfunding process, and the game's publishing, which was initially supposed to be handled by Starbreeze, will finally be handled by Microsoft, which now holds the publishing rights. Under these conditions, Psychonauts 2 has obviously been postponed several times. The release window that was first announced was 2018, but the latest news on this subject set the release for this year. Having arrived at the end of April and without receiving any news on this matter for a long while, the fans were beginning to wonder if this delay would be permanent, but Double Fine has just announced very good news:
