Phasmophobia is taking 2026 to fix, polish, and rebuild trust

Phasmophobia’s 2026 roadmap is now all about the big fix
Updates & Patches

Phasmophobia was supposed to spend 2026 sprinting toward its big 1.0 moment, but Kinetic Games has hit the brakes and changed the plan. Instead of rushing the full release out the door, 2026 is now looking like a repair, polish, and trust-rebuilding year before Phasmophobia finally reaches 1.0 in the second half of 2027. Honestly, for a game built around ghosts ruining your evening, that might be the smarter move.

The new roadmap puts the focus on fixing the experience players already have. First up is the 13 Willow Street rework, arriving on July 21, 2026, alongside a Quality of Life update. The layout is staying familiar, so veteran ghost hunters will not suddenly get lost in the walls, but the house is being refreshed with redesigned rooms, more atmosphere, extra objects, and more environmental storytelling. Basically, same haunted home, new nightmare smell.

The big tech patch before the big scare

A second Quality of Life update is planned for August, followed by a Unity 6 upgrade in October. That one is a big deal because Kinetic says it should improve stability, lighting, accessibility options like color blind preferences, and general performance. After that, November brings the second Player Character update, adding more customization, cosmetics, better animations, a cleaner Shop UI, and improved character models.

The bigger stuff is still coming, just later. The 1.0 launch has moved to 2027, along with the next new map and the Nintendo Switch 2 version. Kinetic has also shown plans for improved ghost models, including Patient 07, and a new Conduits system that will replace the Bone collectible and add more lore to investigations. On top of that, 2026 still has returning seasonal events, the 42 Edgefield Road rework, Weekly Challenge changes, and new Voice Recognition features on the way.

It is a bit like what Demonologist tries to do in the same ghost-hunting space: scary contracts, spooky locations, and plenty of panic. But Phasmophobia still has that special “everyone screams over the radio and dies in the van doorway” energy that keeps players coming back.

So yes, 2026 is not the grand finale anymore. It is the cleanup run before the big hunt. If you are ready to grab your EMF reader, annoy a ghost, and pretend you are brave, use our price comparison tool to find the best prices for Phasmophobia.
