Nvidia has postponed the release of its RTX 5070 Founders Edition
Andreas Schilling of HardwareLuxx has announced that Nvidia has postponed the release of its RTX 5070 Founders Edition graphics card. Instead of being available today on March 5th, the GPU will now launch “later in March.” Andreas further emphasized that this delay affects the entire world and is not limited to Europe. Therefore, those interested in purchasing it will need to wait for the new launch date or look into third-party options from companies like Asus and MSI that will be available on March 5th.
You think you can buy a GeForce RTX 5070 Founders Edition tomorrow? No, NVIDIA told us 2 1/2 hours before review drop:

This type of delay is unprecedented. With limited initial stock in many areas and the Founders Edition launch being postponed, the rollout of Nvidia’s 5070 is poised to disappoint many PC gamers. The low availability could lead gamers to turn to AMD’s upcoming Radeon RX 9070 series. Although the reason behind the delay of the Founders Edition RTX 5070 remains unclear, there are indications that Nvidia may be facing issues with quality control regarding its GPUs.
Last month, a number of customers who purchased the RTX 5090 found their graphics cards had fewer render output units (ROPs) than promised, resulting in decreased performance. Nvidia has since stated that the shortage of ROPs is due to a “rare issue impacting less than 0.5% (half a percent) of GeForce RTX 5090 / 5090D and 5070 Ti GPUs,” as well as some 5080 models. Users affected can reach out to their GPU supplier for a replacement.
AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 series is set to debut on March 6th, and many retailers are well-stocked for day 1 sales. The stark contrast in GPU supply for the launch of AMD’s RX 9070 series compared to Nvidia’s RTX 5070 series is astonishing.
