Nintendo Switch 2 reveals new Joy-Con design
A leaked video on the Chinese platform Bilibili has revealed what is claimed to be the Joy-Con controller for the Nintendo Switch 2, showcasing some notable changes. The video shows that the new Joy-Con attaches to the Switch 2 using magnets, rather than the sliding mechanism used in the current version. This change, rumored for some time, aims to make attaching and detaching the Joy-Con easier and more durable.
At approximately the 2:20 mark in the video, there's a blurry scene showing what seems to be someone detaching magnetic Joy-Con controllers from the Switch 2. For months, rumors have indicated that instead of sliding on and off, Nintendo's next-generation Joy-Cons would attach to the console magnetically—and that’s exactly what appears to be shown in the video.

The images in the video also reveal several new design details for the Joy-Con, including:
- Larger SL and SR buttons.
- An infrared camera on the underside.
- A new trigger button on the back.
However, the function of this new trigger button remains unclear. Some speculate that it could replace the release button for detaching the Joy-Con found on older versions. Currently, the authenticity of this leaked video cannot be confirmed. It’s possible that this is just a product created using 3D printing or image editing. Nevertheless, these new images have sparked curiosity among gamers, fueling anticipation for the official release of the Nintendo Switch 2.
Nintendo has confirmed plans to unveil its next-generation console before April 2025. With production likely already underway, it’s expected that more leaks and information will surface online in the coming months.
