Guardian Arrives in Patch 10.6.0 With Support Focus
The most recent patch for Dungeon Defenders, Patch 10.6.0, follows with the Hermit Hero DLC, bringing the Guardian, a new and highly powerful hero class that completely overhauls the way defensive strategies are employed in Etheria. This holy warrior, born and bred in the desert lands, is a support-builder hybrid that supports and protects allies while dealing devastating blows to enemies with a brand-new set of "Tower Health" scaling defenses. The Guardian's addition to the game is a major game-changer in the endgame meta, giving players much better tools for surviving Ruthless content.
Holy Might and Tactical Defense: The Guardian’s Toolkit
The Guardian's arsenal is centered around five new and innovative defenses. The Holy Cannon and Owl Nest are excellent tools for long-range damage, while the Obelisk is a utility powerhouse that oils and slows down enemies to increase damage taken from them. For added stability on the front lines, the Holy Bulwark is a retaliatory barricade that heals friendly towers and players when hit. Supporting allies is the Empowering Shrine, which provides massive damage and resistance buffs to any player standing within its range.
Her active abilities further reinforce her role as a defensive anchor. Shield Bash offers strong knockback and lane control, helping prevent enemy overflow during intense waves. At the same time, Divine Judgement acts as both an AoE damage tool and a defensive buff that increases ally resistance. Instead of excelling in solo farming speed, the Guardian shines in strategic builds, boss defenses, and crystal protection scenarios where stability outweighs speed.
Overall, the Guardian shifts the meta toward survivability and tower-focused scaling. She may feel slower for pure DPS players, but for those who enjoy strategic defense planning, support roles, and high-difficulty content, this class introduces a meaningful and refreshing layer of depth to endgame builds.
