New Cycle shows its gameplay ahead of release
The strategy genre is quite popular and Daedalic Entertainment is now giving it a try with New Cycle. The German video game publisher has a long history of games with a deep narrative but its latest release, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, didn't quite hit the nail when it comes to the players' expectations. A new and fresh take on a different genre seems to be a great opportunity to prove that Daedalic still has a knack for publishing interesting experiences.
Technology is power
New Cycle is an exciting city builder set in a post-apocalyptic scenario where a sudden solar flare collapsed most of the technologies in the world and sank humanity in a dark era. Developer Core Engage debuts in the genre with a challenging experience that pits you against all odds as the leader of a group of survivors. Your task is to rebuild a society from scratch and help it to thrive and survive. Of course, this not only involves the development of a solid economy based on survival mechanics but also the management of several other aspects.
The world of New Cycle threatens you with unexpected events that will put to the test your management skills as you progress through the game. The transition between leading a small community that has to build a settlement to survive and a sprawling industrial city able to compete with other factions will be quite a journey. However, staying at the top and dealing with the competition in a world where technology and knowledge are the difference between life and death will be even harder.
New Cycle is entering Early Access on PC via Steam on January 18, 2024. The developer will continue to add new features to the game while polishing it before the final version is ready.
