Minecraft Dungeons II shows its gameplay

Minecraft Dungeons II gameplay takes us on a weird adventure
Gameplay

Minecraft Dungeons II has finally stopped lurking in the shadows and decided to show us some new footage. Mojang has released a new gameplay trailer for the upcoming action-RPG sequel, offering a much closer look at the strange new adventures coming in the game, including a trip into the wonderfully bizarre dimension known as the Sift.

The trailer wastes little time getting weird. Our heroes venture through a mysterious portal and find themselves somewhere that looks familiar enough to scream "Minecraft," but strange enough to make you question whether the Overworld has finally had one too many suspicious mushrooms.

Enter the Sift

The Sift is one of the biggest novelties coming ot the series with Minecraft Dungeons II. It provides an entirely new setting for your dungeon-crawling adventures. Its landscapes are packed with unusual sights, dangerous enemies and plenty of opportunities for the sort of trouble that tends to follow four heavily armed adventurers wherever they go. Of course, this is still Minecraft Dungeons, so admiring the scenery is generally discouraged by whatever monster happens to be waiting around the next corner. The gameplay footage shows the heroes charging into combat against a variety of enemies, with fast-paced battles, abilities and plenty of satisfying loot collecting remaining at the heart of the experience.

The sequel to Minecraft Dungeons also continues the series' emphasis on cooperative play. Up to four players can team up, either online or locally, meaning you can once again assemble a party of friends and discover who among them is responsible for running directly into every suspicious-looking enemy in sight. That cooperative focus could become particularly important in the Sift. The new dimension isn't simply another collection of corridors filled with monsters. Mojang is presenting it as a mysterious place packed with its own dangers and discoveries, giving players another reason to poke their noses into places where their noses probably shouldn't be.

Minecraft Dungeons II is also expanding the original formula with new areas, enemies, missions, equipment and ways to customize your character. The familiar loot-driven progression remains at the core of the experience, but the sequel appears determined to make the journey feel bigger and more adventurous rather than simply handing players another pile of dungeons and calling it a day.

The new trailer is therefore an important glimpse at what Mojang and developer Double Eleven are aiming for with the sequel. The original Minecraft Dungeons already proved that the Minecraft universe could work surprisingly well as a Diablo-inspired action-RPG, and the sequel seems ready to throw that formula into a blender, add a mysterious dimension and press the big red button.

Minecraft Dungeons II is scheduled to launch on September 29, 2026, for PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo platforms. As usual, you can use our comparator to purchase Minecraft Dungeons II at the cheapest price. Mojang has finally showed enough of the game to make one thing clear: the next dungeon crawl is going to be considerably stranger than the last one. And honestly, if four heroes voluntarily walk through a mysterious portal into an unknown dimension, they probably deserve whatever happens next.
