Whether you are a fan of role-playing games or not, it's almost sure that you have heard of the Mass Effect series. The sci-fi adventure starring Commander Shepard is quite a popular videogame. The original trilogy combines third-person shooting and role-playing mechanics to deliver an incredible experience with an epic storyline that narrates the endeavors of Shepard to save the Milky Way from being destroyed by an alien race known as the Reapers. Of course, the plot of Mass Effect games is far more complex than that, and it's a good example of the kind of storytelling that has made BioWare a renowned developer over the years.
The first three Mass Effect games focus on Shepard's story but the fourth one, Mass Effect Andromeda, featured an open world environment and a brand new story that didn't really convince the fans of the series. Mass Effect Trilogy, a compilation that included the original Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3 was released in 2008, but Electronic Arts announced a few months ago a new compilation called Mass Effect: Legendary Edition that would include the remastered version of the games in the original trilogy. All the fans of Mass Effect have been eagerly waiting to know more about Mass Effect: Legendary Edition since it was announced but it's not been until yesterday that we could take a look at the gameplay and know the release date.
Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is coming May 14 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It will be playable on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 via backward compatibility. Along with the remastered version of the original games, it will include a series of gameplay enhancements as well as all of the DLCs released to date and support HDR and up to 4K resolutions.
